Unraveling Iterative Control Structures from Business Processes

Iterative control structures allow the repeated execution of tasks, activities or sub-processes according to given conditions in a process model. can significantly increase risk triggering temporal exceptions since within scope these could be repeatedly executed until predefined condition is met. In this paper, we propose two approaches unravel iterative from models. The first approach unravels loops based on zero-one principle. second branching probabilities assigned at split gateways. proposed methods used unfold structured loops, nested and crossing loops. Since unfolded model does not contain any structures, it for further analysis by designers during modeling phase. are implemented workflow graphs, therefore they compatible with languages such as Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN). experiments, behavior models compared against original concept runs.
